Catapulting Commissions Sales Talk with Anthony Garcia

Feb 24, 2021

One of the biggest fundamentals we talk about on the show is the ability to sell. But, to sell your vision, your idea, is the definition of catapulting your commissions. Our guest today is Justin Breen, who built BrEpic Communications LLC, where he writes clicky stories that highlight you or your business and find the right pitch for multiple media outlets. Justin has clients coming to him, so let’s hear his process and philosophy on sales.

BrEpic is foundationally simple, and Justin believes the formula is the same: you see a problem, you create a solution, solve the problem, create a successful company. He built his PR firm based on how PR firms annoyed him for twenty years. The bigger the problem, the bigger the solution, the bigger the success.

Justin grew his business exponentially using this method--something many people struggle with. Meanwhile, in less than three years and with no business background, he’s working with exclusively the top people in the field. He says if you have the right mindset, it creates the right network, which creates the right opportunities. Therefore, he focuses on improving his mindset first. He only partners with people with three similar attributes to their mindset: visionary, abundance, and investment. People with those attributes are either running a high six to seven-figure business and see their family whenever they want to, they do what they want and they’re good at it, OR they will be that person because they have the right mindset. The difference is that he acts on it.

He identifies visionary, abundant people by the questions he is asked while they talk--if the first questions they ask are related to cost, or if cost comes up too often, they may lack those traits. Once you can find people who can understand where he is coming from, it snowballs into more ideal client avatars. If they don't fit that mold, then they don’t fit in the network. He knows who he is, but he really knows who he is not. Either they are or they aren’t--it’s really that simple. People with the right mindset make the investment, people without make the excuse. Confidence weeds out nonsense. Don’t compromise who you are for the business.

In the end, we have a limited amount of time on earth. For Justin, it only makes sense to work doing what you love, with who you want to work with.

A key aspect to Justin’s success is knowing who he’s not. By collaborating with and listening to peers at the highest level. When you have this mindset, all it does is attract more people who operate there. This creates opportunities in perpetuity.

Justin discusses the Kolbe A Index test. This is the most important test, Justin says, he’s ever taken inside or outside of school. This test is broken into four scores in four categories that analyze your brain strengths. The categories are fact finder, follow-through, quick start, implementer. Each of these aspects offers key insight into what you’re good at, where you can find help, and how you function in an entrepreneurial space. What this assessment does, is it allows you to make adjustments. The object of taking this test is to show you how you can maximize yourself. For example, if you have a high quickstart score, low follow-through, the adjustment would be to hire more people to aid you in getting things done. When you have your team take the test, you can better build an efficient, effective workplace. If you don’t know who you are, you don’t know how to improve.

Justin has a book, Epic Business, out now, is a multi-national bestseller. In his book, he discusses 30 secrets to building your business exponentially and give you the life you want. Every lesson is a chapter--no fluff.
