---

Today’s guest is a classic example of excellence and demonstrates time and time again that he is a top performer in sales and beyond. Ian Koniak is a career sales professional, entrepreneur, and expert at investing in himself. He’s on the show today to talk about his story, how and why he puts so much trust into himself and his skills, how to bust through difficult walls, and much, much more.

Ian talks about his top practices and mentalities that he has used to maintain a top sales representative position at his company. He says that it’s important to remember that you can’t change people who don’t want to be changed. He talks about his early success and some struggles he faced shortly after. It starts, he says, with the understanding that you should to identify and change what you need to do to fulfill your goals. You have to get to a point where you’re sick and tired of sub-par performance, and you need to believe that you can achieve more. By shifting his focus from himself to his client, he was able to provide a service to those around him, and the rest followed. Ian shares with us his personal wake-up calls that push him to get better, every day.

Anthony and Ian chat about company culture and what an organization can do you improve the retention of those important people. Ian talks about the importance of longevity and how it impacts success. Developing sales reps is essential--people don’t leave companies, they leave managers. Second, it’s about making them money. Closing their deals leads the way in teaching them the ropes and showing you want them to succeed. And third, it’s about caring about people. Someone who is going to bring value to them and getting out of the way when they’re ready is an effective manager.

Next, they discuss personal development. Ian joined a mastermind group, or a group of like-minded individuals with a similar goal, coached by a mentor. He discusses vision setting and how they began by laying out the most important people in their lives, who they’re doing ‘it’ for, and the most important things they’ve taught them. He mentions changing habits, both personally and professionally. His commitment to improving himself returned ten-fold. There are time-stealers that they do in private that slow the progress of moving the needle. Weeding out things that don’t do anything for his business allowed him to reach his potential.

Finally, Ian chats about his coaching business and what you can expect when you work with him.

What you’ll learn

In today’s conversations, Ian shares the top practices he uses to maintain the highest level of performance in sales--consistently, how to improve company culture and lessen rep turnover, and how important it is to improve, develop, and boost yourself to reach your true potential.
