Catapulting Commissions Sales Talk with Anthony Garcia

Nov 11, 2020

Today’s guest on the Catapulting Commissions podcast is an expert in an area that is often overlooked in high-level sales: the mindset. Petia Kolibova is a women’s transformation coach who helps individuals who have been held back by toxic relationships or unhealed childhood trauma to create a life that is true to them and their soul purpose. Her mission is to help those on the path to healing move through their limiting beliefs and internal blocks to enable them to do what they want to do.

As a transformational coach, Petia changes people’s lives. All too often, we focus on the end goal and view it as the ultimate win--when we achieve that goal, THEN we will be happy. While success and hitting those benchmarks can make you happy, they aren’t true, genuine fulfillment. Petia looks at an individual’s pathway, past, present, and future, to find out who they really are and who they want to be. Through her own journey of abuse and struggle, Petia realized living by the mantra of being “unapologetically her” she was able to find a flow in her personal and professional lives.

A big part of reaching that holistic happiness that we crave, we have to first separate success and fulfillment. Today’s society pushes very specific markers for success and convinces us that’s what we need to be happy. In reality, we create our own definition of happiness. Ask yourself, if nothing ever changes in your life, would you be happy? Chances are the answer is no. Check-in with yourself and get clear on what aspects of your life bring you joy and mold your life from there--trying to go the other way and forcing your family and relationships into an idea of success that doesn’t align with what you care about won’t end up doing any good. Are you living a life that is true to you, or are you outsourcing your happiness and worthiness?

As Petia said, the first step to finding that fulfillment is identifying what’s really important to you and what you stand for. Before you dive in, take a second to learn about yourself. If you don’t know who you are you will attract energy that’s confusing. Her exercise is simple: divide a piece of paper into what you stand for and what you’re about, and what you do not stand for and what you definitely are not about. From that section of values you stand for, highlight your non-negotiables. These are aspects of yourself that you simply cannot be without. From there, take inventory of your life, personal and professional. Do your relationships and business align with your core values? Then, let go of what doesn’t fall in line. It’s scary, but remember that you will never start from zero--you’re always evolving and changing.

As you know from the Catapulting Commissions book, part of achieving your next sales goal is working in a positive environment. Petia talks about how we can identify and remove toxicity from our lives. Check with yourself--would you be okay if a loved one were treating themselves the way you treat yourself? When there are dynamics that are bringing you down, it’s not healthy. Is that relationship making you better or bitter? Even if you cannot choose the people in your life, you can choose how you feel about them. Healing relationships is a massive step to changing the environment you’re in. It’s not always about getting rid of people, it’s about knowing what you can settle with. Start with a compliment and be open with them and tell them what the relationship makes you feel like. Communicate what your values are and discover a solution that works for both of you. It’s not about shaming, it’s about re-negotiating.

Sometimes, we have to recognize that everything in our life happens for a reason. Understand that relationships change and they can change for the worse. But, we can learn from them. They can point out aspects of your life that really don’t work for you. In the world of sales, if someone doesn’t respect your time, you don’t respect their business--that’s an example of understanding what’s important to you and living true to that.

A major challenge we’re all had is the entire year of 2020. And yet, here we are trying to run businesses. To make the shift into 2021 to make it the best year yet, it’s important to not be attached to what things SHOULD look like. Being adaptable and flexible to what people are passionate about it key. For a moment, close your eyes and return to what you’re in control of--you, your family, and those close to you. Set an intention and then surrender it to whatever happens. View obstacles as opportunities and flow with the punches. You can expect goodness and live in that eagerness, but don’t allow it to be swayed by a negative influence--find the good there.

Finally, Petia shares her non-negotiable practices that she executes every day. For her, it’s the morning routine. In the morning, declaring how you want to feel during the day will bring that energy. Manifesting and relaxing can happen at the same time. By writing affirmations and getting in the flow--leading with gratitude, you will thrive.
